Private Studio
Michelle maintains a small, private studio in Ottawa, Canada open to a limited number of students (age 6 through adult), via in-person and online sessions. Under her guidance, students receive focused and supportive training with an emphasis on tone production, musical artistry, healthy technique, rhythm, theory, ensemble skills, basic improvisation, memorization strategies, diverse repertoire, and stage presence. Training for advanced students includes solo and orchestral repertoire, chamber music, as well as extended techniques and contemporary repertoire.
As a teacher, Michelle brings many years of experience working with students of all levels through the University of Arizona, University of Ottawa, Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy (age 6 through high school), private teaching, coaching, and mentorship programs. Her students have won top prizes in many competitions, including the 2022 Young Artists Harp Seminar Competition, American Harp Society National Competition, Midwest Harp Festival Competition, Phoenix Harp Competition, National Arts Centre Orchestra’s Bursary Competition, Kiwanis Music Festival, and VAYA International Music Festival. Several of her students have pursued advanced degrees at the New England Conservatory of Music, the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of North Texas, Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, among others.
